Westfit Tennis Club

Reinvesting in your business… and what it can do for your bottom line.

Westfit Tennis Club has been a Freemotion fan for years. But until recently, the well-known fitness hub has only been using their Freemotion Genesis DS line as a training tool. Now with new Freemotion programs and customized training solutions, Westfit thinks of Freemotion as a revenue generator – not just a strength-builder.

“Members have come to appreciate the simplicity behind using the machinery, but, most notably, their strength gains in working in bilateral and unilateral dimensions.”

BACKGROUND

Westfit Tennis Club in Westford, Massachusetts has the tagline, “Swim. Tennis. Wellness.” What started out as a place to play tennis year round is quickly becoming a gathering spot for active people who want to be healthy for life, not just for a sports reason.

Freemotion cable-based strength training tools have been an ideal solution for the members at Westfit because of the free and natural range of motion that strengthens their bodies along with their back stroke or tennis related actions.

Eventually, the leaders at Westfit started considering new areas of growth – and one underutilized area in their club was personal training. With a professional staff of trainers they absolutely had the knowledge, but weren’t sure where to begin. That’s when their education on the Genesis DS line came into play.

CHALLENGE

Leveraging the knowledge of their experienced, professional trainer team and the education program built into the core of Freemotion, Westfit implemented the Freemotion Fitness Program Cards. These personalized programs were designed to keep Westfit’s active athletes in shape even when they’re not on the field, the golf course, or the tennis court. It’s also been an essential tool for corrective exercise programming and rehab clients. And because the Genesis DS supports two people at a time, launching group training and increasing personal training revenue was a no-brainer and came easily.

“We started using the program cards and following the Freemotion process. The response was immediate,” said Israel Rivera, Director of Fitness Services. “Members have come to appreciate the simplicity behind using the machinery, but, most notably, their strength gains in working in bilateral and unilateral dimensions.”

BUSINESS IMPACT

Once the leaders at Westfit started looking at their investment in the Genesis DS line as a revenue generator and not an expense, the group training began to grow and PT revenue increased – by at least 25%.

“Genesis DS has been a key differentiator for us,” said Rivera, “And we use that as an advantage. Purchasing equipment is a big spend for a company, but we’ve found with the Freemotion program cards, not only are we able to re-engage our members, we also bring in new personal training revenue and excitement to our members.”
